Fish With Legs

I’m a fisher of men, out here with my rod, but I’ve been thinking why don’t I make a net?

What The Dog Doin?

Time fades for missionaries like the sun sets. My comp sits in his last two weeks. During this last transfer we’ve been going to his old areas and reconnecting with the people he’s impacted in his two years here. One of these wasnt a person at all but a dog.

Immediately recognized by the good boy he came running up. And for the rest of the day he followed us. Disapearing sometimes quickly but always coming back as we went house to house. My comp had made a comment that the dog has a tendency to spawn wherever we would go, we would turn a couple corners and he would get left behind but you’d look down and there he was.

Closing out the day in that area I went upstairs in the house of someone to use their bathroom. Out of nowhere I heard the door bust open, thinking it was my comp playing a prank I started chuckling a little bit and looked back but no one was there. Confused I looked down and to my suprise the good Ole boy had absolutely spawned in the house of a random person and burst in to stay by my side.

Those That Went Away

Day after day we deal with rejection, something thats become quite normal. People that are busy, have other things to do or just won’t open up enough to plant a seed, and then there’s those who went away.

After reflecting on John 6, I realized a real life connection. Jesus had been followed by 5,000, these people had seen the multiplication of the bread and the fish to an undeniable scale and enough miracles that they had followed Him in the first place, and yet as he taught more to these followers, witnesses of miracles, they couldn’t accept more light and truth to what they already believed. They had become complacent with half of the truth and wanted no more to accept the rest.

34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

…41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

So these devout followers of judeo tradition went away, they had followed Christ in his law given to them to point them to Him, seen miracles done by Him, recieved confirmations, and still had gone away.

…66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.So where’s the connection? Recently I’ve had the sad experience to see the same thing. People nourished by the light and truth they have, start their journey towards Christ. See miracles and yet for some reason, maybe its too much of a change, or a hard thing to accept, but they too walk no more.
So here’s my plee to you all, don’t just be complacent in the light and truth you have, because more exists. You might have grown-up that way, you might have been converted, or you might have even seen miracles, but when your search for truth stops and complacency steps in thats when you’ve found yourself in the same spot as the Jews, unwilling to walk more towards the light.

2 nephi 28:30 …for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.

Christ still guides his people by prophets and apostles to whom He’s given authority to act on his name. This foundation he’s given to His church exists today.
