Is she Dead? Ft Carnaval

What’s up I have no fotos from this week, it rained… basically every day so I didnt bring my camera out.

Bathroom trouble…  Pt. 4 (I think)

Unfortunately some of the medications I was taking had a little effect on my stomach. Anyways duty was calling randomly and urgently, often. Well one time I had to go, and there was no suitable bathroom anywhere near (My area is a giant favela, I also don’t live in my area (Thank Goodness)). Fortunately there was a toilet… at a “restaurant”, the toilet was in a little exposed brick room in the corner without a door… just a big plywood sheet. That I had to lean in front of the opening. As I destroyed that pure bathroom, a bunch of little kids (7-14) came in and im watching them as they all walk in, then they realized I was in their bathroom, destroying it. And then they look through the large gap at me and I look at them, and they start laughing at me. Here I am getting bullied by some little kids. Thankfully they stop looking at me, but they kept making fun of me. Fortunately I had the last laugh because there was no way to flush and I think it was there club house, or house (no idea) but they had to deal with it. 😁

Is She Dead?

As we reached to top of the favela we saw two guys dragging out of their house one lady who was limp. They each had one shoulder and theirs and were struggling to drag this lager lady out. As we got closer it became apparent that they were freaking out. This is when I thought to myself “Is She Dead?”. They frantically asked us for help getting her down the labryinth of the favela to the road where the ambulance could help her. Fortunately we were there to carry her out unfortunately because some of the favela is just a tight little alley we had to navigate a literal maze with dead ends we could pass through to get her down. To make it worse it was dark, muddy, and slippery. Slowly we made it down the favela, about halfway down she started to spaz in our arms and it seemed like we could get to the bottom fast enough. When we made it down to the road we laid her on her side and waited for the ambulance, they never showed up. We had to call an uber and load her in oursleves for the poor lady.

The only pic I have of the inside of the favela. (Video in the google photos)

Carnaval

This week Carnaval started and basically it means we get cooked, no one wants to go to church everyone just wants to party, and they do. Everyone also wears very, revealing clothes men and women 🥴 (my eyes). I was not prepared to see a guy in a thong dressed up as a caveman riding a motorcycle. (This was one of many horrors I have witnessed)

This Ain’t America

This area has been the biggest eye opener, its continued to change me and my mentality, and has made me so grateful for all I have, all that we have in the U.S. dont take anything for granted. The longer I’ve been out here the more I realize how first world the majority of my problems, while some of the people here can’t even recieve first aid. Seeing the faith of the people here that they put in the savior really is inspiring, I feel so humbled to call this place my home and try to bring some of the light I’ve recieved through Christ to the people here.

“…faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.”

Ether 12:6
